A national virtual care expansion is increasing access to physician-led addiction and specialty services for underserved and justice-involved populations.
TAMPA, FL — December 27, 2025 — DevotedDOc, a national physician-led expert virtual medical group focused on high-risk, underserved, and justice-involved patients, today announced the national expansion of its Virtual Addiction Care Clinic and specialty consultation services. These programs are designed to support correctional systems, nonprofits, safety-net providers, and employer partners.
Built by emergency physicians, toxicologists, addiction medicine specialists, and clinical informatics experts, DevotedDOc combines telehealth, labs, remote patient monitoring, and specialist access on one platform to deliver guideline-based care to patients who are often last in line for treatment. Over the past 6 months, DevotedDOc’s Addiction programs have expanded across multiple states, including Florida, Georgia, New Mexico, and Oklahoma, with active plans to launch in additional high-need markets such as California, Colorado, Illinois, and Texas in January 2026. DevotedDOc’s Addiction line has grown rapidly with month-over-month visit volumes and referral requests increasing as new partners and geographies come online.
“Our core mission is simple: take the standard of care that exists on paper and make it realistically available to people who usually never see it,” said Dr. Matthew Berrios, DO, founder and CEO of DevotedDOc. “We designed DevotedDOc to plug into correctional facilities, nonprofits, and community programs without forcing them to rebuild their medical infrastructure from scratch.”
Virtual Addiction Care Clinic & Digital Infirmary Model
DevotedDOc’s Virtual Addiction Care Clinic is a physician-led program that delivers evidence-based care for opioid use disorder and other substance-related conditions, including alcohol, tobacco, and cannabis use disorders. Patients are evaluated and treated via telehealth, with access to medication delivery, CBT-style digital tools, and automated follow-up workflows that keep them engaged between visits.
The clinic uses a modern tech stack to:
- Combine telehealth visits, remote symptom tracking, and app-based behavioral tools into a single care pathway.
- Screen and treat co-occurring HIV, Hepatitis C, and common medical comorbidities, using national data-exchange networks to pull in outside records when available.
- Coordinate home delivery of medications through partnered pharmacies to reduce transportation barriers, ID issues, and pharmacy stigma.
- Track outcomes in real time such as retention on MOUD, viral suppression, overdose-related ED visits, and re-arrest after release and report them back to partners.
For jails, prisons, and safety-net organizations, DevotedDOc also offers a Digital Infirmary model:
- On-site nurses or medical staff see the patient and use secure telehealth to connect with DevotedDOc clinicians for on-demand clinical care.
- Remote physicians and advanced practice clinicians provide evaluation, prescribing, and decision support.
- Clinical workflows and documentation are customized to support defensible, guideline-concordant care.
This model is designed to reduce off-site transports, stabilize high-risk patients sooner, and help facilities meet evolving legal and regulatory expectations for addiction and chronic disease treatment. DevotedDOc’s goal with correctional partners is to initiate MOUD for at least 30–50% of eligible patients within days of intake and to maintain treatment through the first 90 days after release, the window where relapse and overdose risk are highest.
Specialty Consultation Platform: 26 Specialties, 200+ Subspecialties
In addition to direct patient care, DevotedDOc offers access to a national specialty consultation platform, allowing partners to tap into:
- More than 26 specialties and 200+ subspecialties, including cardiology, endocrinology, psychiatry, infectious disease, hepatology, and others.
- Nutrition and metabolic health consults to support DevotedDOc’s weight management and metabolic programs.
- Case-based e-consults that allow our clinicians and facility providers to obtain specialist input without weeks- or months-long referral delays.
“For many safety-net and correctional settings, specialty access is the chokepoint,” said Dr. Keith Baker, MD, DevotedDOc Regional Medical Director and Compliance Lead, board-certified in Emergency Medicine, Medical Toxicology, and Addiction Medicine. “By pairing our Virtual Addiction Care Clinic with a deep specialty consult bench, we give partners a way to manage complex patients inside their existing infrastructure, not just send them out and hope for the best.”
This specialist access can be deployed as part of the Digital Infirmary or as a stand-alone consultation service supporting existing primary care or behavioral health teams.
Built to partner with and complement existing systems
DevotedDOc’s model is partnership-oriented. The company works alongside:
- Correctional systems and county facilities seeking to add or improve tele-MOUD, HIV, and Hepatitis C treatment.
- FQHCs, Ryan White programs, harm reduction organizations, and other nonprofits serving patients with substance use disorders and complex chronic disease.
- Employers and health plans looking to address addiction, metabolic health, and complex medical needs in hard-to-engage populations.
DevotedDOc’s clinicians and workflows are designed to integrate with existing vendors, pharmacy arrangements (including 340B partners where appropriate), and local care networks without displacing current relationships.
“We’re not trying to be everything to everyone,” Dr. Berrios added. “DevotedDOc focuses on high-impact lines of service for MOUD, HIV, and Hep C with specialists backing for people who otherwise fall through the cracks. We expand workforce and capacity so partners can deliver care they’ve wanted to provide for years but couldn’t staff.”
